It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office announces the tragic passing of Investigator Andretta English, who died on June 27, 2026, following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Investigator English passed away early that morning after courageous but unsuccessful efforts by a team of dedicated trauma surgeons and medical professionals to save her life. She was surrounded by the support of her family and her law enforcement family.
Andretta joined the Sheriff’s Office on February 26, 2024, beginning her service as a Patrol Deputy. From her very first day, her passion for serving others was evident. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to the profession quickly earned the respect of her colleagues. Earlier this year, she was assigned to the Investigations Division, where she continued to excel and make a lasting impact on the agency and the citizens it serves.
Known for her quiet strength, determined spirit, and compassionate heart, Andretta approached every assignment with professionalism and integrity. Her kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Before answering the call to law enforcement, she spent several years serving her community with AAA Ambulance Service. The compassion and dedication she demonstrated as a paramedic were the hallmarks of her entire career in public service.
The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest gratitude to the medical staff who fought tirelessly for her, and to the Forrest General Hospital Police Department and officers from across the region who provided unwavering support.
Investigator English’s watch has ended, but her legacy of service, compassion, and sacrifice will remain forever. We ask the community to keep her family, friends, and her Sheriff’s Office family in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest easy, Investigator Andretta English. Thank you for your service.
