The Canton and Alpharetta communities are mourning the deeply sad passing of Dr. Molly Marie Kevern (née Magill), a beloved local pediatric and family optometrist, devoted wife, and mother of three young children. Molly passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, following a courageous, multi-year battle with cancer.
Known by colleagues for her exceptional clinical warmth and by her family for her radiant, infectious faith, Molly leaves behind a profound legacy of care across the greater Atlanta area.
Dr. Kevern was deeply passionate about visual healthcare and dedicated her academic and professional life to serving others. She laid her educational foundation at Auburn University, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Spanish.
She then pursued her true calling at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), earning her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 2015. During her rigorous doctoral training, she completed clinical internships at Southern Eye Associates in Raleigh, NC, Johnson Optometric Associates, and the Birmingham VA Hospital, where she specialized in providing complex ocular care to military veterans.
In September 2016, Molly joined the medical team at Bridgemill Eyecare in Canton, Georgia. Over nearly a decade at the practice, she built a reputation as an incredibly thorough, compassionate, and gentle eye doctor, particularly loved by children and families navigating pediatric vision needs. Alongside her primary practice, she worked extensively as an independent contractor and fill-in optometrist across the north Atlanta suburbs.
While her professional milestones were vast, Molly’s greatest joy lay entirely within her family. She was completely devoted to her husband, her parents, and her three beautiful children, consistently emphasizing that being a mother was her most cherished role in life.
Following her diagnosis, Molly and her family faced her cancer journey openly through CaringBridge, where thousands of local patients, neighbors, and church members followed her journey of perseverance, hope, and unwavering faith.
In a moving public tribute shared over the weekend, Molly’s sister, Amy Stafford, reflected beautifully on her sister’s journey and homegoing.
