Authorities have released new information surrounding a violent kidnapping in Chino Hills that ended in tragedy, identifying the victim and the two suspects allegedly involved in a chain of events that left one man dead, another suspect fatally shot by deputies, and a second suspect facing murder and kidnapping charges.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday that the victim has been identified as Shukur Aikebaer, 60, while the suspects were identified as Zhengfeng Bo, 67, and Jianquan Bo, 66. Investigators say the incident unfolded late Wednesday night and escalated into a deadly confrontation involving law enforcement.
Victim Lured Outside After Power Interruption
According to investigators, the incident began at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2100 block of Monteverde Drive in Chino Hills.
Authorities said Aikebaer stepped outside his residence after electrical service to his home was interrupted. Believing he was dealing with a routine power issue, he reportedly went outside to inspect the home’s electrical panel.
Investigators allege that it was at that moment that Zhengfeng Bo and Jianquan Bo confronted him. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Aikebaer was shot before being forcibly abducted by the two suspects.
Officials believe the attack was deliberate, although investigators have not publicly disclosed what led to the confrontation.
Neighbor Recalls Hearing Gunfire
Residents in the normally quiet neighborhood described hearing gunshots and cries for help moments after the alleged kidnapping began.
One neighbor told local media that he was inside his garage when the violence erupted.
According to the witness, he heard multiple gunshots before someone shouted repeatedly for help, prompting concern throughout the neighborhood.

Suspects Attempted to Escape
Authorities said the suspects fled the area in a Nissan Altima with Aikebaer confined inside the vehicle’s trunk.
Law enforcement officers soon located the suspect vehicle near a residence on Wandering Ridge Drive, where deputies initiated a stop.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies ordered both occupants to exit the vehicle.
Investigators said Jianquan Bo, who was riding as a passenger, complied with deputies’ commands and exited the vehicle without incident.
However, authorities allege that Zhengfeng Bo, the driver, acted in a shocking and deadly manner after leaving the vehicle.
Fatal Shooting During Deputy Confrontation
According to Sheriff’s Department officials, Zhengfeng Bo walked toward the rear of the Nissan and opened the trunk where Aikebaer was being held.
Investigators allege that Bo then fired a shot at the victim while he was still inside the trunk.
Deputies immediately responded by discharging their weapons, fatally striking Zhengfeng Bo.
Emergency medical personnel rendered aid to both men.
Despite lifesaving efforts, both Zhengfeng Bo and Shukur Aikebaer were pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy-involved shooting remains under review in accordance with department policy.
Investigation Reveals Prior Relationship
While investigators have not yet established a definitive motive, officials confirmed that Zhengfeng Bo and Shukur Aikebaer were acquainted.

Second Suspect Remains in Custody
Following the incident, Jianquan Bo was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.
