The cultural, philanthropic, and public relations communities of Houston, Texas, are united in deep sorrow following the heartbreaking news of the passing of Kristen Cannon. A brilliant marketing executive, elite brand strategist, passionate advocate for underserved communities, and beloved family member, Kristen passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Her passing follows a courageous, deeply personal battle with chronic gastrointestinal illness and an aggressive form of Crohn’s disease.
Kristen was a native Houstonian whose professional precision and philanthropic heart left an indelible mark on her home city. As the PR and Media Director at Valobra Master Jewelers and the longtime President and Founder of The Cannon Affair, Kristen spent more than two decades elevating the profiles of luxury brands, charitable foundations, and local businesses. Known for her sophisticated creative eye, sharp business intellect, and fierce loyalty as a friend, she lived a life that beautifully reflected the very spirit of Houston’s celebrated Women of Distinction.
A Courageous Personal Journey and Health Advocacy
Kristen’s dedication to community service and health advocacy was fueled by a deeply personal journey. For years, she quietly lived with and managed the painful realities of colitis, balancing high-stakes corporate deadlines with the daily challenges of a chronic condition. In 2025, her health landscape became significantly more complex when she was diagnosed with an exceptionally aggressive form of Crohn’s disease.
My deepest sorrow for Kristin’s family. What a bright light Kristin was and will remain to be as her fierce spirit lives on championing her causes and making things beautiful! I have known Kristin since our days at Memorial High School. It has been so fun watching her grow into a role of such city-wide high-esteem and respect in this, the city I love so much! I will miss Kristin because she was just so darn fun to watch from afar and so lovely when we did actually chance to meet every so often. Gods speed, sweet friend!
