Ham Lake Car Accident Andover, MN: Further details released after juvenile driver crashed into pickup on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast and Vickers Street Northeast

HAM LAKE, Minn. — Authorities have released additional information following a serious two-vehicle crash in Ham Lake that left four people injured, including a juvenile driver who was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

The collision occurred Monday afternoon at the intersection of Crosstown Boulevard Northeast and Vickers Street Northeast, prompting a large emergency response from multiple agencies, including deputies from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments, emergency medical personnel, and air ambulance crews.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:36 p.m. after receiving reports of a significant crash involving a sedan and a pickup truck.

A preliminary investigation determined that a sedan was traveling westbound on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast when it crossed the center line and entered the path of an eastbound pickup truck. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing extensive damage and leaving several occupants injured.

Authorities said the juvenile male driving the sedan suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care. Officials described his condition as critical.

Two juvenile passengers riding in the sedan also sustained injuries. Investigators said both were transported for medical evaluation and treatment and were reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was also injured during the collision. Officials said that individual was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

First responders worked quickly to stabilize the injured victims, secure the crash scene, and direct traffic around the area while rescue efforts were underway. The force of the impact left both vehicles heavily damaged, requiring tow crews to remove the wreckage once investigators had documented the scene.

The intersection remained partially closed for an extended period as deputies conducted their investigation and emergency personnel cleared debris from the roadway. Motorists were advised to avoid the area while officials completed their work.

Investigators have not yet determined why the sedan crossed the center line. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances leading up to the collision, including roadway conditions, vehicle speeds, and any other factors that may have contributed to the crash. No additional information has been released regarding potential impairment or distraction, and officials have not indicated whether either played a role.

Because the driver and passengers in the sedan are juveniles, authorities have not released their identities.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have relevant information to contact investigators. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.

The crash serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from vehicles crossing the center line, particularly on busy two-way roadways. Authorities continue to encourage motorists to remain attentive behind the wheel, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution when traveling through intersections and along heavily traveled routes.

Community members have expressed concern for the injured victims and their families as they await further updates on the juvenile driver’s condition. Thoughts remain with everyone affected by the serious crash as the investigation continues.
