The Mullica Township, New Jersey, community is mourning the tragic loss of Javonte Stallworth, 19, who was found fatally shot inside a crashed vehicle late Friday night, July 24. His sudden death has left family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Mullica Township police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 30 and Snow Hill Road shortly before midnight. When officers arrived, they discovered Stallworth inside the vehicle suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said witnesses reported seeing two individuals flee the crash site on foot before police arrived. Officers later located two juvenile passengers who had been riding in the vehicle with Stallworth and transported them to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office for questioning as part of the investigation.
Following the investigation, authorities charged a 15-year-old Mullica Township resident, identified only by the initials A.H., in connection with Stallworth’s death. The juvenile faces charges including aggravated manslaughter, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of a firearm without a serial number, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
The juvenile has been remanded to the Harbor Fields Juvenile Detention Center, where they remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the shooting or a possible motive.
