According to information shared by his family, the tragic accident occurred while Leo was enjoying time on a tree swing. During the swing, the tree branch unexpectedly snapped, causing him to fall and suffer catastrophic head injuries. The heavy branch also struck him, resulting in severe trauma to his skull. He was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Scottish Rite Hospital, where a dedicated team of specialists fought tirelessly to save his life.
Doctors performed a craniotomy in an effort to relieve pressure and control the internal bleeding. Despite every available medical intervention and the extraordinary efforts of his care team, Leo’s injuries proved too severe, and he sadly passed away. His parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and hospital staff, describing them as a source of compassion and strength during the darkest days of their lives.
In the days following the accident, an outpouring of love surrounded Leo and his family.
