ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Authorities are investigating a fatal train incident that claimed the life of a pedestrian Tuesday afternoon at the MBTA’s Attleboro Station, prompting major service disruptions along the Providence Line and leaving family and loved ones mourning the loss of Vaughn Loring, remembered by those close to him as a beloved uncle.
According to the Attleboro Police Department, emergency crews responded to the station shortly before 3:00 p.m. following reports that an individual had been struck by an Amtrak train traveling through the area. Despite the efforts of first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Amtrak officials said the train involved was traveling northbound from Washington, D.C., to Boston when the collision occurred.
