The Las Vegas equestrian community has been left deeply shaken following a disturbing incident at South Point Arena that resulted in multiple horse injuries and an active criminal investigation during a competitive event. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to the scene and later confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody.
Authorities identified the individual involved as Emily Grace, who was competing as an event participant at the time of the incident. She has since been formally booked on multiple felony charges, including animal cruelty and malicious treatment of livestock. Officials confirmed she is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center and is scheduled for an initial arraignment hearing early next week. Due to the severity of the charges, no bail has been set at this time.
The incident has prompted widespread concern across the equestrian community, where attention remains focused on the recovery and well-being of the horses involved. On-site veterinary teams acted quickly, providing emergency care to three animals injured during the event.
One of the horses, a champion gelding known as “Sully” and registered as Saaul Good, owned by Hailey Krahenbuhl, suffered deep lacerations to the flank and shoulder. Veterinarians performed surgical treatment, and the horse is now reported to be stable, responsive, and undergoing antibiotic therapy to prevent infection.
A second horse, a mare competing on the regional circuit, required emergency surgery due to significant muscle damage. Medical staff confirmed she remains in stable condition and is recovering under close observation in a secured veterinary facility.
The third horse sustained minor superficial injuries and was treated at the scene. Officials confirmed that the animal did not require extensive medical intervention and has since been released back to its owner.
As the investigation continues, event organizers, competitors, and animal welfare advocates are calling for stronger safety protocols and enhanced security measures at equestrian venues. Law enforcement officials continue to review evidence as the case remains active.
Further updates are expected as authorities proceed with their investigation.
